Hosting Add-ons

WebAuthorings Hosting-addons

1/16/2016 – UPDATE: ALL HOSTING ADD-ONS ARE NOW INCLUDED WITH THE PRO-HOSTING PLAN!

As technology pushes forward, we realize there’s a serious need to expand on our services in order to keep your website up and running proficiently. After making some significant changes in the way we do things and the way we utilize the third party services that WebAuthorings employs, we are offering our extended services to you.

1.       System Updates

Available to: Clients using WordPress Technologies

WebAuthorings updates the technologies used to power your website when there is a strict need to do so. Updating 100’s of websites is a daunting task that can take weeks. While we never charge for system critical updates, keeping current with technology is something that simply has to be done.

If you don’t update your cell phone’s OS and apps that you use, ultimately something will break down and stop working. The same thing will happen to your car. If the oil isn’t changed regularly and tires rotated, belts replaced, your car will one day just break down.

This concept applies to websites. When we update a website, we recreate your entire site on a development server. We first update to the current version of WordPress. Next we update your plugins or apps that power up features of your site. Then we test it to make sure nothing is broken. Often times we find that apps that are older will not function with a new version of software. When this happens we search out another solution to replace the failed app. Once we make certain that all is good with your website, we update it on the live servers.

Imagine doing this for 100’s of websites! There are a few automated procedures that we’ve recently put in to place. They tell us when things need updating. Rather than charging a $95 update fee several times a year for non-critical, but essential updates, we are offering a plan where your website will be updated with every revision and latest versions including all of the apps that make your site function.

For an additional $5.00/month added to your hosting plan, your website will be updated throughout each month. You may opt not to upgrade your hosting account to this package, but please know that in the long run over the year; the extra service will save you money.

On top of this, we will give you additional security at the website level. We will out into place tools that will allow better securities against hackers and malware that can ultimately shut down your website

2.       Content Delivery Network (CDN)

Available to: Both Ecommerce & WordPress Clients

What is a CDN?

A content delivery network or content distribution network (CDN) is a large distributed system of servers deployed in multiple data centers across the Internet. The goal of a CDN is to serve content to end-users with high availability and high performance. CDNs serve a large fraction of the Internet content today, including web objects (text, graphics and scripts), downloadable objects (media files, software, documents), applications (e-commerce, portals), live streaming media, on-demand streaming media, and social networks.

Content providers such as media companies and e-commerce vendors pay CDN operators to deliver their content to their audience of end-users. In turn, a CDN pays ISPs, carriers, and network operators for hosting its servers in their data centers. Besides better performance and availability, CDNs also offload the traffic served directly from the content provider’s origin infrastructure, resulting in possible cost savings for the content provider. In addition, CDNs provide the content provider a degree of protection from DoS attacks by using their large distributed server infrastructure to absorb the attack traffic.

So what does this mean and do I need it?

It means your site will run faster and an added layer of security will help defer DoS attacks.
While it’s not necessary it is something you should consider, most seriously if your business relies on your website. While our WebAuthorings servers are fast and safe, adding a CDN makes your site quicker and safer.

For an additional $10.00/month added to your hosting plan, your website will be included in our CDN hosted accounts.

3.       SocialNET+

Available to: Both Ecommerce & WordPress Clients

Most of you currently employ SocialNET which allows you to automatically post to Facebook and Twitter every time you publish a new article or add a new product. We’ve made a change that will make available additional social networks that you can automatically publish to. Pushing content to your social networks will happen quite a bit quicker as well.

For an additional $5.00 per month added to your current hosting plan you will now be able to auto-populate content to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn (One Group of your choice) and Google+.
We can include multiple Facebook Pages or Groups, or additional LinkedIn Groups, each at an additional $1/month.
